GoDaddy is officially the transfer agent of all Registerfly domain names.  Here is the announcement on the GoDaddy website:

We're pleased to be providing a safe, reliable home for your domain names. We’re in the process of getting everything ready for you, so your transition to GoDaddy.com® will be fast, easy and as smooth as possible.

Within the next few days, you should be receiving an email from us regarding how to log in to your account, as well as manage your domains. In the meantime, please feel free to check back at GoDaddy.com for any new developments.

We look forward to having you as a member of the Go Daddy family.

For Registerfly customers affected by the gross negligence of Registerfly.com, this announcement will bring a sense of hope in securing their domain names and we're certain the GoDaddy team of people are ready to help you re-gain control of your domain names.  Meanwhile Registerfly has posted on their website the following information:

NOTICE TO CONSUMERS.

THE INTERNET CORPORATION FOR ASSIGNED NAMES AND NUMBERS - THE NON FOR PROFIT ENTITY THAT ADMINISTERS THE INTERNET'S DOMAIN NAME SYSTEM, HAS ISSUED A NOTICE OF TERMINATION OF THIS COMPANY'S ACCREDITATION TO SERVE AS AN INTERNET DOMAIN NAME REGISTRAR.
PLEASE SEE WWW.ICANN.ORG FOR FURTHER INFORMATION.

This announcement isn't located on their front page, it's located in the Help section of their website.  This is not good enough to stop people from feeding the beast that keeps taking their money.  The judge should have been very clear about where this is to be placed.

Given that registerfly.com never deleted ANY domains from user accounts even after they were transfered to other registrars (for those of us who managed to get out of registerfly.com before the sky fell in, or as it was falling)- I remain concerned.

In theory, these domains will not be moveable- since they are registered elsewhere. But in practice, registerfly.com records have always been such a shambles, it is hard to know what may happen.

It is telling that godaddy.com is talking about 850,000+ records to move. Once upon a time, registerfly claimed to have 2,000,000+ names (and well might have). Which means that more than a million names were moved out of there by customers. Every one of those names still has a record in the previous user accounts at registerfly.com.

I can only hope that registerfly.com had some real mechanism to figure out which ones were STILL really under management. (It would have seemed that they always did- and were just throwing roadblocks down in front of people trying to maintain a customer base).

Whatever Kevin M. gets out of this fiasco, I hope he is successfully sued for every penny. He so recklessly damaged untold numbers of businesses and lives with just willfull malice and greed- it really is hard to contemplate on a personal level. It is much like Enron, the pain is deep and widespread for thousands.

But unlike Enron, I don't think Kevin will see the inside of a jail cell, no matter how much he deserves it. That's a sad statement on the totally disfunctional U.S. legal system, both federal and state sytems.

One has to wonder why the hell the New Jersey state attorney general has not filed criminal charges of grand theft against this person. He could also file felony grafiti charges, and probably some type of computer chage against the person.

Agreed!
Kevin needs to see major jail time.. and lose any profits he's seen from this madness.

Good point. Make sure your domain names are LOCKED. That should in theory stop an unintended transfer imho.

We probably have not seen any action against registerfly as this is white collar crime, and in theory for small amounts ($8.00 registration).

"The judge should have been very clear about where this is to be placed."

If you read the court injunction at the end of April, the judge was very specific and clear about this. The notice is to be 14 pt bold typeface on the top third of every page. There really is nothing left for interpretation here.

This is just Kevin not obeying the law again

avatar Hi,

My 15 domains moved over to GoDaddy today. No problem setting up a new account and getting in to see my babies.

The 9 domains I did not want and had not paid for stayed behind, perfect! The stress is starting to go down already.

Good luck to everyone else!

Regards
