Have you been Bitten by the Registerfly

Check out the ICANN WIKI and you can edit it to reflect accurate information

Are you one of the 900,000 customers from about 120 different countries allowing Registerfly to hold control over 2 million in total domain names?... If you are, I'm sure you've found that you flew through that registration process just to be bitten by a fly of another color.  Well, don't be ashamed because you are one of many and you've now landed on a site where many are going to stand as "one" against the Registerfly and all other domain companies that choose to exploit the weakness in the domain industry.

Welcome to Registerflies.com

So what is this site anyway?  Well, it's a site that was developed due to, not one, but many angry Registerfly customers from all over the world.  Many of us come here as domain owners and webmasters and have dealt with the aformentioned company - Registerfly, for many years.  Most of us did our best to be patient and understanding as we were customers of Registerfly and relied on them for the safety and trust of managing our domain names.  That trust has been broken time and time again, and we've run out of patience.  Hence the birth of Registerflies.com.  Please register to post in the forum and join the fight against unethical domain registrars and hosting companies that choose not to provide services they promise.  Registerfly chose not to listen to wide spread complaints... maybe they can hear us now.

FlyDo a Google Search on Registerfly

If you do a search on Google, you'll see why this site is here and justification for this site.  For years we've complained and attempted to use their support and they've just not fixed the issues.  Many of us have called in to their support line, just to be disconnected after being on hold for 30 minutes.  Many of us have had missing domain names and changed whois addresses, matter of fact there are many of us who have lost entire websites.... The damages are endless.  This specific company has exploited the lack of control that ICANN has when it comes to domain names and has turned the domain industry into the wild west.

A Little About Domain Names

Domain Names are realestate on the World Wide Web.  You purchase all the rights to use of that domain name and it's owned by you for as long as it's renewed.  A Domain Name is a very important thing and you must trust the company you've chosen to register it with.  Domain Names are a property, where the demand is getting higher as the supply is getting less and less... The internet  is still in it's infancy!  Just like your physical land property, domain names too are considered an investment and will continue to grow in value.  Either way, whether you own just one or 100,000 domain names, it's a property of yours and you better trust who's hand it's in.  There are too many legitimate companies on the web to do business with, then to have to deal with the common headaches at Registerfly.  Take a look at our forums to learn more.

Is This Site Legal

Absolutely it is!  We are protected by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution!  This site is not only a gripe site but also an informational tool for positive changes in the domain name industry.  This site is in no way affiliated with Registerfly, Unified Names Inc. or any other of their subsidary companies or any other registrars or ICANN.

This site is totally legal and your information will be protected and remain private.

Many thanks for your efforts on this site. I have had it with wondering when registerfly will fix their domain renewal service and hold hostage my domains. I have begged, pleaded, cajoled long enough. Am ready to join the class-action suit when it's ready to roll. Thanks --(btw, some of the forum looks to be having issues this morning)

Yesiree! Ripped off by Registerfly. They took our money for an SSL certificate which they won't deliver and will not return emails. 30+ minutes on phone support only to be cut off. These guys suck. One of the worst of the worst. I would join any class action against these sleazeballs!

RegisterFly SUCKS! Today alone I've been on the phone on hold with customer service for an hour and a half. Tried renewing my domain name, they claimed to be having technical difficulties. It's more than a week later and I'm still trying to find out if they have renewed the name.

Internet highway daylight robbery !!! I've been trying to renew a domain name since 11-3-2006 (3 weeks before expiry date) and of course it has never worked. It seems that the olny things that work at Registerfly are the billing system and the "automated lie machine".
I'm also ready to join any class action suit !!!
By the way this only one the issues I currently have with them...

Hello, this is just an advisory that I am unable to post to the forums, even after logging in. After several minutes after hitting the "Send" button, the site seems to time out with a DNS error. This is true whether you are creating a new post or replying to one that already exists. FYI. --SJR
Rick - Customer for 3+ years--got wor IP:76.169.248.251 | 2006-12-11 13:56:17
I've got 20+ domains at Registerfly. Although their services outside of domain hosting were generally worthless--their email hosting was a complete failure for me---things really went down hill this year when they decided they needed to cut out the middle men and handle the domains themselves. I've got all these "expired domains" that were were renewed 3 or 4 times, with support histories to back up my claim that I tried renewing well before they expired and couldn't. Most recently half my domains stopped working and the only support that was half way decent was phone support, but even then, I got promises of things being fixed in 24 hours---but a week later--still nothing fixed. I called back again, and they said they were hoping to have things fixed in 24 hours, that they had a lot of domains in the queue. Ok here's the deal, they killed my domains that were all paid, I've renewed my web hosting account with my hosting server a week before the domains went down--so now those accounts are useless. Registerfly has me hostage. What can I do???
JCS - Another duped customer IP:205.188.116.196 | 2006-12-12 01:16:33
And I've been thinking I've been alone all this time, but everyone's story could be my own! Customer for 5+ years; 130+ domains - several with sites up and (used to be) running. This summer I noted multiple charges ranging from $50-200 every day for close to two weeks. I called - no answer/disconnect - sent tickets --> eventually told to stop asking. Eventually told CC company that I had no documentation of charges, so they investigated and eventually reversed. Well guess what? My account was put in suspended mode without telling me, or letting me know that domains were not renewed! So we start again - eventually they reinstate my account, with 30 missing but unable to be renewed from another registrar. I finally get to talk with someone in risk - after multiple attempts and being "first in line" and then going to voicemail - and then VM is full!!! When I finally got to talk with someone, he told me he's working on it. Funny, in the background I could hear someone saying he was the manager or vp, something like that, and he was yelling at a customer to stop using foul language! I wonder why??

So now it's over a month later, with no resolution. I just tried, and most of my names are still unavailable. I did get to register two. My sites are down. I sent emails to eddie in risk, and everyone else but no response.

I'm ready for ICANN and BBB. And the class action - this is appalling. I listened to some internet marketing guru - what a regret that is!

This is so upsetting - any insight is gratefully received!

Thanks for being here. At least I'm not crazy.

Log into your account, copy and paste the history of all the support tickets before they shut the site down. The lack of response let alone the comments to your issues will be needed when somebody starts a class action suit. The two drunks that own the company must pay.

JE Curran IP:67.142.130.40 | 2006-12-14 19:01:33
Additionally to a class action suit it's time to quickly file a complaint with the FTC (Federal Trade Commision) that is now actively persuing internet fraud. So even if they did skip town, when the Fed is on your tail, you have to go a lot further than just skipping town.

Anybody here care to organize the effort to file a mass complaint form with them?

Where did you hear that? I just find it curious that R'fly would bring a vice president on board (i.e., Mark Klein) and then suddenly turn around and close up shop... But then nothing with r'fly has made a whole lot of sense...

Just a note that R'fly seems to actively monitor their site for edits. Click on the "change history" tab for a complete list of changes. You can also make comparisons between edits to obtain changed or deleted content.

Additionally, be advised that IP addresses of all changes are recorded. Presumably this includes all edits that R'fly makes. --SJR

I purchased the High Traffic Site Promotion for $84.95 and was unsuccessful in completing the Order due to RegisterFly technical issues. I submitted several support tickets and was unable to get this resolved for over a month. I asked for a refund on my American Express card for $84.95 but received no answer. After disputing and reversing the charge on AMEX, RegisterFly locked my account with all of my Domainnames & charged me the original $84.95 plus a $100 chargeback fee and a $25 reactivation fee. I paid the extortion fees, reactivated my account, transferred my domains to ipower, disputed the charges again with Amex who gladly reversed the charges. Farewell RegieterFly !! You are all crooks and deserve prison :-(

Hello.

Without getting into specifics, my firm has been defrauded by Registerfly.com. We are committed to filing the lawsuit seeking class action status.

I ASK ALL, to please send and email to us/me, with your name, address, email etc.. and any specific information you can provide.

Address Removed!

We have had enough and apparently many others as well.

Justice must be served to these crooks.

The longer we wait, the tougher it will be to get justice.

God Bless and we will prevail.

I attempted to renew a domain on the 12th of December. I had just taken management of the domains and the previous manager didn't inform me of the near expiration for one of the domains.

The domain went off line. Admittedly my fault, but it shouldn't have been more than 24 hours before the site was back online. Instead It is approaching 30 days?!

I have called them many times... Here is how it goes...

REGFLY: Hi, thanks for calling registerfly

ME: my domain has been offline for a full seven days!

REGFLY: LIE LIE LIE.... wait another 24 hours.

ME: *click*

This happened every time I called. The CEO and owner of the business called them and they said to wait another 24 hours, but told him different lie.

lhale - Tickets Registered | 2007-02-20 08:41:42
I had tickets I know I submitted back in July/August 2006 as I filed multiple tickets on the same subject that were not ever addressed. They do not show up on my ticket history. :/

RegisterFly.Com did one of those domain sales on one of my domains. They claimed it sold for $650. The $650 was credited to my account. I asked for that to be credited to me. Repeatedly. On the phone and in tickets. Those too are generally missing from my list of tickets. When I tried to renew a batch of seven domains, I blew through $400 of that $650 and the money was never refunded. Domains back then sat in limbo, waiting for renewal for two weeks, three weeks. RegisterFly kept saying they were switching register things and were in the process of getting that turned over so that was the reason. Give it 24 hours.

After much complaining about that domain sold for $650 and not getting my money back, the domain showed up back in my list of domains I owned except I can't change the whois, can't get it redirected, etc.

I had domain name hosting on RegisterFly. I paid it on time. Every month. Then they turned it off, said I didn't pay. I did pay. I called and sent support tickets. I paid the fee again, two or three times. I wanted it back. They never put it back up and sent me reminders that I was late for about a year. All told, it cost me at least $60 for that bit of idocy. When I called them on the phone, they told me the e-mails saying I owed them money would stop and that my site was still there. Both were lies.

When I first started using them back in 2001, they were reliable and seemed reliable up until June 2005 when they went down the crapper customer service wise.

Already filed a complaint with the better business bureau out of New Jersey. I'd like to transfer the domains to godaddy because Network Solutions charges $19 a domain and I have around 20 domains. I just can't afford that at the moment. Where do you get the transaction ID and security code from RegisterFly to move them so I can use godaddy?

I am copying a portion of this post from the link above. http://www.larrylim.net/registerfly-domain-name-registration.htm

I know i'm getting out now while I still can take some of my property that won't be lost. Get that hard to find authorization code as shown below. Good luck to all.

Quoted as follows

Not the one to take any risks, I've begun transferring my domain names to GoDaddy - a little more expensive for me but totally necessary IMHO.

If you plan to do the same, you may have trouble locating the Authentication Code for your domain name because Registerfly has definitely done a good job hiding them to prevent you from moving your names to other registrars. Here's how to look for them (thanks mhdoc!):
a) log into your account
b) click on "Manage Domains"
c) select the domain name
d) click on [+] at the end of "Domain Contact Info"
e) click on "Configure"
f) scroll all the way down and you will see the Authentication Code
